Pupil Courses

The Middle Temple provides a number of full-time courses for pupils which run from Monday to Friday during two consecutive weeks. They will offer advocacy training workshops designed to meet situations in which young barristers may find themselves. Lectures cover topics ranging from general advocacy to advice on how to organise professional matters such as finance. The workshops will be led by experienced practitioners. Court visits provide an opportunity for exercises in both civil applications and criminal work before Judges.

The dates for 2009/10 are:

2-13 November 2009
18-29 January 2010
15-26 February 2010
15-26 March 2010
5-16 July 2010
8-19 November 2010

Attendance at any of these courses satisfies the Bar Council's requirement with regard to compulsory advocacy training and practice management in pupillage.

Occasionally, pupils might be unable to attend the full two-week course. For those cases, we offer two curtailed programmes which still meet the formal requirements on advocacy training and practice management.

The dates of these courses during 2010 are;

8-10 March 2010
28-30 June 2010

Courses are open to all members of the Middle Temple. There is no fee. Pupils on Circuit may find it more convenient to attend the Circuit's course, but if they wish, we would be pleased to offer a place on the Middle Temple course.
