The Inn provides an ongoing program of Professional Development for practicing Barristers, based on the requirements of the Bar Council. This breaks down into courses at three levels, namely;
- Pupil Courses two week and weekend courses providing experience and meeting Bar Council requirements for Pupils.
- NPP (New Practitioner's Programme) for practitioners in their first three years of independent practice, comprising 9 hours of advocacy training, and three hours of ethics training
- CPD (Continuing Professional Development) of at least 12 hours per calendar year, and
- Training the Trainers, based on promulgating the Inn's formula of advocacy training. This has proven highly effective, but requires a little time to get used to. Practitioners interested in becoming advocacy trainers may attend a series of courses to familiarise themselves with this process.
