Ansgar Ohly holds the Chair for Civil Law, Intellectual Property and Competition Law at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. He is also a permanent Visiting Professor at the University of Oxford and a Visiting Senior Member of St Peter’s College Oxford. He studied law at the universities of Bonn and Cambridge. From 2002 to 2012 Ansgar held the Chair for Private law and Intellectual Property Law at the University of Bayreuth. There he was also the vice-speaker, later the speaker of the German Research Foundation (DFG) graduate school “Intellectual Property and the Public Domain”. He is specifically interested in European developments and in the comparison of civil law and common law systems. He is also the co-editor of GRUR, the leading German intellectual property journal.
