His Honour Guy Boney KC was appointed a Circuit Judge in April 2004 and retired on 28 December 2014. He had practised in General Common Law in London and the Western Circuit as a Junior from 1969 to 1990 and as a Silk from 1990 to 2003. He was head of Pump Court Chambers from 1992 to 2001. He was appointed an assistant Recorder in 1982 and a full recorder in 1985. He sat a fortnight a year as a visiting Recorder at the Old Bailey between 1993 and 2003 and was appointed a Deputy High Court judge in 1992. As a Circuit Judge based in Winchester from 2003, he was granted a ticket to try murder cases in 2005 and from 2012 sat for 3 weeks a year in the C.A.C.D.

He has been married to Jean Ritchie KC (a Bencher of Gray’s Inn) for 40 years, and they have two sons, Oliver (a Doctor) and Christian (a Solicitor). When she was concurrently Head of Chambers at 4 Paper Buildings, they were the only husband and wife pair who each headed their own set of Chambers.
