Masters of the Bench

Jonathan Jones is the Treasury Solicitor, HM Procurator General and Head of the Government Legal Service.  He was previously Home Office Legal Adviser (2012-14), Deputy Treasury Solicitor (2009-12) and Director General of the Attorney General’s Office (2004-09).  Jonathan began his career with the Government Legal Service as an adviser on competition law with the Office of Fair Trading.  He later held legal adviser posts in the Department of Transport, HM Treasury and the Department for Education.  He is an accredited advocacy trainer and undertakes advocacy and ethics training for members of the employed Bar.
