Pupillage Seminars

Hello, I am Laura McGinty, your MTSA Education & Welfare Representative for 2008-09 and I shall be the MTSA contact point for any pupillage related queries.

Over the course of this academic year MTSA will be holding three series of Pupillage Seminars to assist you with the pupillage application process from start to finish.

The first seminars will take place in early 2009 and will provide information on general pupillage matters with focus on pre-application activities. The sessions will offer guidance on how to approach the decision of which Chambers to apply to, the differences between Chambers which students should be aware of and the steps which students should be taking prior to completing applications. Speakers will also discuss their experience as a pupil and provide an insight into the work which a pupil might be expected to undertake. The sessions will be repeated to focus on various areas of law.

The second set of seminars will take place in March 2009 [date TBC] and will provide assistance on completing application forms with a focus on the content which is expected to be present in a good application. Speakers from various Chambers will explain the criteria used to filter applications and will offer helpful tips on ways to make your application stand out. These seminars will be repeated as necessary to cater for numbers.

The third set of seminars will take place during June 2009 [date TBC] and will focus on interview technique. Speakers will give examples of the types of questions which may be asked by interview panels and will explain what Chambers are looking for at interview stage. These seminars will be repeated as necessary to cater for numbers.

Further details will follow later this year. If you have any pupillage related questions in the meantime please contact education.MTSA@middletemple.org.uk.
