The Middle Temple Debating Society provides student members of the Inn with the opportunity to debate in various Inter Varsity competitions around the country. Middle Temple teams are often to be found at national competitions throughout the year. The society also sends a team to the world championships every year and indeed a team from Middle Temple won the competition last year, making Middle Temple the current world champions. Opportunities to debate are open to all student members of the Inn, regardless of debating experience and ability.

An internal debating competition is also planned for this academic year, to run in parallel with the mooting competition and consisting of two preliminary rounds followed by a final. All student members of the Inn are encouraged to take part.
