Scholarships & Prizes
The Middle Temple has long provided funds to help aspiring barristers along the road towards financial independence. Awards include scholarships for the CPE/GDL and BVC years, entrance exhibitions (covering the admission and call fees of £165), and overseas scholarships to the European Commission in Brussels and the Court in Luxembourg; to India; to Toronto, Canada and to the USA.
The application form for Major Scholarships (CPE/GDL 2008/09), together with a sheet of Information for Applicants and a sheet of Information for Referees, is available for download on the left.
Middle Temple is the only Inn to offer an interview to every candidate. In 2007 over £1million was offered in cash or accommodation scholarships. An Appeal is underway to secure funds to significantly increase this amount - more information about the Appeal is available here. Already, a number of new scholarships have been made available through the generosity of both individuals and members of chambers.
